Visit Grand Canyon
Drink beer
hit the 4 corners monument & Mesa Verde
Head on down to Navajo Dam. You’ll find some great water sports there. Everything from skiing to cigarette boat racing. The swimming is good too, & there are many secluded coves to bask in the sun on a rock (boulder – lol) many of them right out in the water.
The hiking it great too, & don’t forget Chaco Canyon & some of the other ruins.
Wherever you go & whatever you do, take water & jackets because when the sun goes down, it can cool off real quick. And if you do 4-wheeling, carry blankets too along with med-kit packs, etc…
Up Colorado way, I’d head off to Durango & you’ll find all kinds of things to do from museums to trains, to live shows & shopping. Just head down main street & you’ll see where you want to stop, take in a movie, get more information, or sit and take a break.
Enjoy. You’re headed to one of the best places in the U.S.
If you go to colorado springs you can go to the Garden of the Gods. there are several trails you can hike there. Beautiful views of the rocks and some are ven climable if you climb professionaly. They also have housre back rides you can take as well. Id also suggest going and looking at the castle called glen eyrie. Its neet and they let you on the grounds free. they also have tea times but you have to pay for that. The seven falls is beautiful too. it has caves you can see. they also have the cheyenne Mountain zoo and the srine of the sun. also if you go up the mountains towards medicine park there is a plae called the cave of the winds along the way and santa’s work shop is that way too. If you like to gamble stop by cripple creek. its a small town with a bunch of casinos in the old original buildings. Hope this helps you.
the 4 corners is one of the best areas in the US for the outdoor lover!!
arches in moab, monument valley on the navajo rez, zion in utah, the “ditch” (aka grand canyon), mesa verde in colorado, glenn canyon in utah, and canyonlands in utah…
if you ask me, you could spend a month on the rez finding all sorts of stuff to do… also, the maze in canyonlands is AWESOME!!.. but upon thinking about it more, your best be is glenn canyon… in the last 10 years or so there’s been a serious drought out there… and the water upstream the dam (that makes lake powell) has been evaporating.. it’s gone down so much that formations, trails and landmarks that have been under water for almost 50 years are now seen!…. i’d love to spend a week backpacking or paddling the colorado river…
if you’re looking for a city to spend some time in.. I’d definitely recommend albuquerque, NM… it’s a cool, hip, artsy, tolerant town… you’ll never want to go home!!
have a ton fun!!!
